Tibetans in Europe Mark 66th Anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising Day.

 

Tibetans and the supporters in various central and eastern European countries, including Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, and Italy, commemorated the 66th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10 March 2025.

Under the leadership of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Tibetans gathered at Werdmühplplatz in Zurich. The commemoration began with a moment of silence for Tibetan martyrs, followed by a speech from Kanam Dewa, executive head of the Tibetan Community in Switzerland & Liechtenstein’s external affairs.

Tenzin Choesang from the Tibet Bureau Geneva also addressed the gathering, elucidating the essence of the Kashag’s statement for the day. In addition, Arya Amipa, Co-President of the Student Group for Tibet in Europe; Norson Pema, Executive Member of the Swiss-Tibetan Friendship Association, and Shi Qingxia, a member of the Chinese Christian community, also spoke. Tibetans living in Switzerland then marched from Werdmühplplatz to the Chinese Embassy, waving Tibetan flags and banners while chanting slogans. Led by the Rikon Tibet Institute, prayers were offered for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and for the truth to prevail.

In Germany, the Tibetan community gathered in Berlin to mark the anniversary. Hon’ble Michael Brand, a member of the German Parliament, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. On the same day, Tibetans also protested in front of the Chinese Embassy. Likewise, the German Tibet Support Group and other Tibetans celebrated the 66th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising
