On 19 March 2025, the Swiss Parliamentary Tibet Support Group convened a side meeting during the spring session of the Swiss Parliament to discuss issues pertaining to Tibet and Tibetans. The meeting was chaired by Nicolas Walder and attended by parliamentarians Fabian Molina, Raphaël Mahaim, and Benjamin Roduit.  Swiss Representative Thinlay Chukki and UN Advocacy Officer Phuntsok Topgyal, along with Selina Morell from the Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) were also present.

The meeting focused on preparations for celebrating His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday on 6 July 2025, in the Swiss Parliament and the city of Lucerne. The gathering also discussed potential future visits by Swiss parliamentarians to Dharamshala.

Swiss Representative Thinlay Chukki answered questions regarding the successor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and expressed gratitude to the Swiss government and parliament members for their recent report on the PRC’s transnational repression affecting Tibetans in Switzerland.

Representative Thinlay Chukkil also quoted from His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s recent book, Voice for the Voiceless, “To the nations and people of the world, especially those who have stood in solidarity with the Tibetan people: Your expressions of concern and support, as well as the attention of the international media on Tibet, continue to encourage us and give us comfort. I thank you and ask you not to forget Tibet at this critical and challenging time in our people’s long history“, urging continued support for the Tibetan cause. English copies of the book were distributed to the attending parliamentarians, with plans to share versions in German and other languages when available.
