Born in Fulda in 1973, he studied political science, law and history at the University of Bonn, earning a master\u2019s degree, and spent a year studying in Sarajevo, where he also served as an OSCE election observer. Before being elected, he worked as a journalist and later as a press spokesperson for the CDU.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Brand has long focused on human rights and humanitarian policy. He chaired the Bundestag Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid from 2013 to 2017 and subsequently served as the CDU\/CSU parliamentary group\u2019s spokesperson in this area.
