Retired Col Vinayak Bhat is a satellite imagery specialist who served in the Indian Army for over three decades. He obtained his Bachelors of Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1981 and also received distinction in Chinese language from the School of Foreign Languages in 1990. He has worked on satellite imagery analysis with keen interest in nuclear field especially nuclear cycle, nuclear weapons and their storage facilities and has also covered mining, milling and calculations through satellite imagery, covering mainly China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, North Korea, Iran, Syria and Libya extensively. He has published 150 reports and has been awarded with Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card twice while in service.
